Amd has new 7000 series carrizo cpus coming out this year, but those are for noteboooks. more exciting are amd's plans for 2016 with its next-generation cpu: the x86 zen.. Zen is the codename for a computer processor microarchitecture from amd, and was first used with their ryzen series of cpus in february 2017. the first zen-based preview system was demonstrated at e3 2016, and first substantially detailed at an event hosted a block away from the intel developer forum 2016.. Amd will sneak-peek its high-end zen cpu in december, starting a new cpu war if the performance and prices fit the rumors, intel's pricey chips will finally have some competition..
Zen 2 represents a brand new, unique approach to amd’s cpus and promises to really turn the screw on its intel competition, both in terms of overall core-count and in its relative performance.. With the new zen, amd intends on putting competition back into the high-performance x86 cpu market, so our hopes are high. beyond the new zen core, amd also announced some work in the gpu department.. Zen is a brand new clean-slate design that’s been led from the get-go by accomplished cpu architect jim keller. the very same person that brought us the original athlon xp and athlon64.
